Its 2020! How is it 2020…
Happy new year everyone, can I still say that? How is 2020 treating you so far?
I thought because we are still in January I can just about get away with doing a blog post on new year’s resolutions. I love hearing everyone else’s so I hope you enjoy hearing mine and they might even give you an idea on what you’d like yours to be!
In previous years I haven’t really bothered making any but I’m really glad I did this year and am happy with what I’ve come up with. It’s really more of a rough guide of a few things I want to make sure happen in 2020. I’m not putting pressure on myself at all, If I slip up along the way I’m not going to beat myself up about it just try and get back on track. To be honest we are mid-way into January and I’ve probably already slipped up but as long as you realise and get back into it again it doesn’t matter.
Let’s get into it….
#1 Stick to a Vegan diet 🌱
I took the pledge to do Veganuary but decided very early on into it that I want to try and eat a plant based diet for the forcible future.
I’m not going to go into detail about why I want to do it as everyone has different reasons and opinions but I’m really glad I’ve decided to and look forward to discovering so much more amazing food whilst doing good for my body and the environment.
My husband and I have already made some delicious dinners and deserts. You can find so many recipes online; I was surprised at how easy it is to make a lot of vegan dishes. My personal favourite so far was Jamie Oliver’s recipe for chocolate vegan brownies. I have a sweet tooth at times and knowing we can make this and it last for a few days is so great!

Are you doing Veganuary? Are you going to keep it on into the year? Let me know in the comments.
#2 Read 12 books in 2020 📚
That’s 1 book a month…
That may sound incredibly easy for some people but with all the distractions nowadays like scrolling through Instagram or binging Netflix, I really didn’t read much at all last year. This year I’m determined so I have been getting into bed a little earlier every night and using that time to read a few chapters. I am currently reading Jojo Moyes – STILL ME, I only started on it half way through January and it’s over 400 pages long so need to get a move on if I want to finish it by the end of the month.
I am really enjoying it so far but have no idea what book to read in February so if you have any recommendations please let me know.
#3 Weekly date night 💑
Me and my husband are so similar and get on so well that we are more than happy to stay in together every night of the week but when we do go out for the odd date night we both enjoy it so much and always say we should do it more often.
Making Friday date night a resolution will help us remember to actually do it more, so every Friday night we are going to pick from a list of date night ideas that im going to write up. They don’t have to be extravagant or expensive either just spending quality time together with no distractions for a few hours. A inexpensive favourite of mine is taking a hot drink in a flask, parking up to watch the sunset and just chatting about the week together.
Obviously sometimes this may change depending on what we have on but I think knowing Friday is our night to go out and do something will be really nice. Unfortunately my hubby is currently deployed and is not back till march 😦 but that just means we will have to catch up for all the missed date nights! We did manage to go bowling before he left and it was so much fun, we felt like we were on a first date again.
#4 walk more🚶♀️
I haven’t been doing a lot of exercise recently and I do want to change that eventually but for now and not to put too much pressure on myself I just want to walk more. At least a long walk 3 times a week! Walking for a decent amount of time frequently can have a lot of health benefits physically and mentally.
I love walking down to the beach when I’m staying Brighton, it takes me about 40 minutes to get there and back. The sunsets in winter over the sea are just stunning!

#5 No unnecessary buying 🛍️
We all buy way too much. New makeup when you’ve got a draw full at home, new clothes when you still haven’t worn that top you bought months ago or even just a new candle because it smells nice, when you have 12 still yet to be lit at home!
So one of my new year’s resolutions is to stop buying things I really don’t need and use everything I have at home already. I know it’s easier said than done but I haven’t been tempted yet. Yes if I run out of foundation or any toiletries I need in day to day life I will re purchase but I will not buy anything I already have similar too for example another eyeshadow palette, handbag or party dress if I have one I can use at home instead!
You save a lot of money, help the environment and also get a lot of satisfaction from using products up or getting a lot of wear out of an expensive piece of clothing! There is no need for us to all buy so much.
❤️
That’s my new year’s resolutions! I’m really looking forward to sticking to these and looking back at the end of 2020 to see how they have changed my year. I’d love to hear what your resolutions are and if you set them, let me know in the comments!
