The feature image is a bit misleading, this post was meant to go up in March just reviewing the one book but now I’ve read 3 more I’ve incorporated them all into this one post.
Although I haven’t been writing about them, does not mean I haven’t stuck to my new year’s resolutions of reading 1 new book a month for a year.
I’ve read 6 books this year currently on my 7th and I’ve fallen in love with reading. I can’t imagine not having a book to pick up in the evenings now – best New Year’s resolution I’ve ever made (& probably the only one I’ve ever stuck too).
I am just going to write a little something about my thoughts on each book to hopefully help you make the decision whether you want to read it as well.
March: Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine by Gail Honeyman – This was my favourite by far from this bunch of books, very easy read! A transformation journey as Eleanor discovers a fuller understanding of herself and life. So different to any book I’ve read before I can really see why it won so many awards – if you haven’t read it yet I highly recommend.
April: The couple next door by – Shari Lapena – Loved reading this through the month of April, we had some lovely sunny days so I spent my time sitting in the sun at my back door with my favourite honey, lemon and ginger drink reading this gripping thriller. I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this book, not what you expect at all. Creepy in a good way, 100% recommend.
May: What happens now? by Sophia Money-Coutts – A very light hearted romantic comedy – I’m not sure if it was because I’d just read two amazing books before but I felt a little disappointed by this one. There were definitely bits I found funny and heart-warming but not enough to engross me and make me want to keep turning the pages.
June: The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley – Although this book had a good plot and unique characters I found it hard to keep track because every new chapter would be narrated by a different character – I have never read a book like that, it made it harder for me to get into the story and characters. If you like that writing style and want a classic thriller – group of friends go to stay in the snowy Scottish highlands with a twist check it out!

The book I am reading now is my first non-fiction of the year – keep a look out for the blog post on that!
Have you stuck to any of your new year’s resolutions? Let me know in the comments.
