Scenic Cruises often feature on Nine as an advertiser for the show but now they are in the press for losing a 10 year class action case.
Over 1,000 passengers sued Scenic Cruises for ruining their holiday and causing distress after the company failed to mention how badly floods in Europe would affect their cruise.
Nine News decided against reporting on this important travel story in 2013 and again now 10 years later after the case has been settled.
Ben Hemsworth from Somerville Legal who represented the claimants said “This is an important victory” after the court approved that Scenic Cruises must pay $26m in settlements.
“Many passengers used their life savings to experience a five-star luxury cruise of a lifetime,” he said.
Instead of featuring this story Nine Entertainment published an article in the financial review promoting Scenic Tours founder Glen Moroney.
Is Channel 9 deciding not to publish the story because Scenic Cruises is a big-money sponsor?
I wonder if they are failing their audience by not providing an accurate representation of Scenic Cruises.
